A cultural day in chiclayo

We had an amazing day exploring old lumps of mud. The pyramids of the once great Moche culture have now (after 1300 years) been turned into a large playground. The archaeologists are not so privileged as to use caterpillars and tractors. They are blessed with their holy toothbrush, a bucket, and a 40km2 of sand.

The graves we visited today were some of the few graves not robbed and molested by eager Spaniards and peasants just as eager to make big money. They were 7m under the ground as opposed to the normal 1.5m, and consequently even more amazing. The museum Lord of Sipan were in international standard very impressive, and managed to keep even the short lasting Eirik awake for the whole period of time (Eirik likes museums with comfortable chairs).

We have taken advantage of the large city, and have done some shopping. Anita had bought a brown shirt to match her new skirt, and Eirik got a couple of new t-shirts. Probably totally uninteresting for you guys, but we mention it anyway.

We need to plan the way ahead tomorrow, and probably stop by a barber to trim my beard as well. If you do not understand Norwegian comments, let me explain: My own mother asked if there were no hairdressers in Peru, because it could get no worse anymore. I take the hint, mum.....

We looooooove jumping pictures

We forgot to mention something in the blog yesterday: We passed a Chili plantation as we biked northwards, and seriously.....there were chillies as far as our eyes could see, and probably enough to kill the merry population of both Austria and Norway. Is there a chemical warfare prepared in Peru? Bush and them: Be careful for the weapons of mass indigestion.
