Leaving Puno - start of 2nd trekk

We are soon leaving Puno with Cusco as a goal. Everything inbetween is very unclear. There are no maps available at all. After running through the town we ended up in the library, a bigger room with reading tables full of pupils and some shelves with books behind a counter. It was a somewhat charming place. The middle-aged man in charge (wearing horn-rimmed glasses) started laughing with disbelieve after he heard the purpose of our visit. "Walking to Cusco???" He wasn`t fleering at us, it was just something that didn`t make sense to him. Still he was very helpful. He brought us two geography books (Deutsch eher Sachkundebuecher) meant for 2nd to 3rd graders. They showed each district of Peru with large pictures (products that are produced there, animals, vegetables), an overview map (e.g. map of Styria, Rogaland) with the cities and rivers and population dates. It might have helped us some but the page with the map of the Puno district was the only one torn out.
I feel quite helpless now and have this restless, uncertain feeling preceding a new, unknown task. The only thing that helps is to set sail (this is for all the Norwegians :-) and face it. We will be fine: We have a GPS, a compass and chocolate for at least two days. And I feel like eating it again!
