4th day in La Paz

Today has been a successfull day, we managed to get important things done. After finding no proper maps in the trekking stores (and we searched many) the instituto geografico militar Bolivia could finally provide us with detailed enough topographic maps (for the way to Lago Titicaca). They date from 1964 though. We expected a strict atmosphere as it is a military institution and were puzzled when welcomed by a friendly man who proudly told us that he had recently taken an English course.
Furthermore, we found a place to repair the strap of my backpack which had been torn off during the flight. Not a very easy task. It took a lot of pointing and gestures and some of the shops we tried had probably never seen tourists before.

What else have we discovered? La Paz is definitely a dog city. There are lots of them but most are well kept. We´ve only spotted one cat so far, high on a roof, probably because of all the dogs.
